Sunday lunch with three generations and everyone left happy. The kids barely sat down — that play area is a lifesaver. Pizzas straight from the wood oven were the best we've had this side of the bay.
A taste of Italy on the Qawra promenade
Trattoria Riccardo is a seaside Italian family restaurant on the St Paul's Bay waterfront, across from AX ODYCY. The kitchen is built around a wood-burning oven — the source of its focacce and pizze — alongside fresh pasta, grilled meats and the daily Mediterranean catch.
It's a genuine family address: a large children's play area, generous sharing plates and sea views make it a fixture for long weekend lunches. Time-honoured recipes, quality ingredients, no fuss.
Signature dishes

How reviews work here
Every review on Diner.mt is verified and the restaurant gets a fair right-of-reply before anything publishes. That's what "Tried & Tested" means.
Verified diners only
We confirm the reviewer actually ate here — a booking reference, receipt or delivery order. No anonymous drive-by ratings.
10 days to respond
Before a critical review publishes, Trattoria Riccardo is notified and gets a fair chance to reply or put things right.
Both sides shown
Resolved issues are noted. If not, the review publishes in full with the restaurant's reply beside it — genuine reviews are never quietly removed.
"The wood-fired pizza is the real deal and the pasta is made like someone's nonna is watching. Service wobbled at peak, but the welcome — and that sea-view terrace — more than carry it."
Thank you — spot on about Saturdays. We've added a second pizzaiolo on weekend evenings since. Come back and ask for Riccardo.

Food was lovely but we waited a long time for mains on a busy Saturday and it took the shine off the evening.
Thank you James — you're right, that Saturday was under-staffed and the wait wasn't good enough. We've since added a second pizzaiolo on weekend evenings. We'd love to have you back and make it right — please ask for Riccardo.
Ordered in for a quiet night — packaging kept everything hot and the tiramisù travelled better than expected. Portions are honest. Will absolutely reorder.
